Yona Friedman – A Retrospective
Vortrag„In the 1960s Yona Friedman rose to prominence within the world of architecture mainly as a result of his elaboration of the manifesto L´Architecture Mobile and what he called La Ville Spatiale. Through huge „superstructures“ over existing cities and other locations in which future inhabitants could construct their own houses, he aimed to provide maximum flexibility. His ideas led him to go beyond architecture and include sociology, economics, mathematics, information science, planning, visual art and film-making, and for many years he has addressed the problem of housing in Third World countries. Although Friedman´s oeuvre would seem to encompass a wide field, all his life he has faithfully adhered to principles based on the absolute requirement of individual freedom.“
